Uh oh...I see water damage!

Spring and summer time in Kanawha and Putnam Counties means lots, and lots, and lots of rain. Anyone that has lived in West Virginia knows that spring time here is that time of year when the weather can be completely unpredictable- sunny one day and thunderstorms the next. This also means that you could have water coming into your home during times of heavy rain, and not be prepared. Some signs that you have water damage in your home are:

-Dark or wet spots on the ceiling and interior/exterior walls. These watermarks indicate a leak.

-Cracking, bubbling, or flaking in the drywall or paint on your ceiling or walls.

-Leaks can cause pools of water to collect on the floor. If you dry the puddle up, and it comes back, you have a leak!

-Musty smell. Any type of damp or moldy smell is an indicator of water damage in your home.

A leak is not always caused by heavy rain. A faucet leak inside your home can also occur, and can usually be detected by monitoring your water bill and listening for dripping sounds.

If you suspect water damage in your home, call the pros. SERVPRO of North Kanawha Valley and Teays Valley is always "Here to Help".
